Juan-les-Pins, part of the commune of Antibes, is strategically located between Antibes and Golfe Juan, and equally strategically between Nice and Cannes, just 15 km from Nice International Airport. It is undoubtedly a fabulous location for a real estate investment on the French Riviera.
Unlike its neighboring towns of Antibes, whose documented history dates back to its establishment as an ancient Greek colony in the 5th century BC, and Golfe Juan, made famous when Napoleon landed in the small port with 600 men in 1815 after escaping exile on the island of Elba, the main renown of Juan-les-Pins is far more recent.
It only became a stop on the map when a railway station was built there on the brand-new line from Paris in 1883.
How it grew in fame and popularity in the years that followed!
The magnificent Hôtel Provençal was completed in 1926 and became a favorite destination for Jack Warner (famous for Warner Brothers films), Charlie Chaplin, and many other celebrities of the time, drawn by the thriving nightlife with a brand-new casino, nightclubs, and by day, the fine sandy beaches shaded by pine trees — the Pinus Pinea that gave the town its name, and that still shelter visitors today.
Juan-les-Pins remains today a hotspot for the jet set and holidaymakers eager to experience the best of the French Riviera. And who can forget the lyrics of Peter Sarstedt’s 1969 No. 1 hit, “Where Do You Go To My Lovely,” with its iconic lines:
“… When you go on your summer vacation, You go to Juan-les-Pins, With your carefully designed topless swimsuit, You get an even suntan, on your back and on your legs….”
